I attached the D300 with a 35mm lens via a manfrotto clamp to the front right fork.
I hit a pothole and nearly lost the camera. I'd checked all the clearances but forgot that the top fork was the one that compressed in and the clamp came down hard on the fork case. Otherwise, it's a good spot to mount a camera
